yesterday we went to see our property, then we went shooting, with a little rock climbing tossed in for fun…

the boys
i just love my boys.
even when they act like punks…
and in order to get a “nice” picture i have to have him be serious and look away…
lucky for me i have Big B. who is all sweetness…
they climb chicken coops…
sometimes they are super duper athletic…
and sometimes they are very scary…
but i always love them.
undemanding time
the other day with billy blaze was really neat. i had plans to go into the outdoor arena to practice excellence while doing the circling game, followed by some horse trailer play.
so i went and met billy at his gate, haltered him up, put the 22 foot line on him and off we went! they had brought some new things into the outdoor arena so he had to check those out quick, then he dropped down to roll (of course…). when he got up i asked him to back up until he was at the end of his 22 foot line, then sent him off on the circle. we made it two laps before he wanted to roll again. i asked him to keep going for one more circle then decided it wouldn’t hurt to let him roll (might be good for our rapport!), so disengaged his hind end then knelt down. he stood for a minute, then i asked him to lower his head and he went down to roll. while rolling he rolled onto his back and just balanced there for a second or two digging his back into the sand. when he was done rolling he just stayed down. so i sat in the sand about 12 feet from him. i sat and sat and sat. then i started to get cold and decided to sit closer to him so i crawled over to him and leaned my back up against his shoulder. he seemed content to just lay there! once in a while he would reach around to nip at me and i would offer him his lead rope or i would play with his lips. we sat like that for 15 minutes! it was wonderful. as we sat there i was thinking “when is he going to get UP so we can play with our circling game?!” then started to think about how some of the things billy and i can do have become so common place that i take them for granted. it made me laugh that i WANTED him to get up! how many people get the chance to sit with their horses while they lay down and both are content? how many? i do take for granted the things that billy and i can do, wanting to do more or bigger and better things when the things we can do are pretty big and great! i want to continue working on our relationship so we can grow more and become even more amazing!
after we laid around the arena i decided our rapport was so great that we could go right to the horse trailer. we had the MOST relaxed and wonderful time!! it was awesome! he walked right in, ate the oats, stood there, played with the bucket that bothered him a little, but he kept offering to play with it
then i backed him out slowly, stopping him with his fronts in the trailer, briefly. then asked him back into the trailer where he ate the oats again, cocked his foot and hung out until i asked him to back out again. then i asked him back in for a 3rd time, he was calm and happy the whole time! i was really happy with how he backed out and loaded him. how quiet he was as he stood in there. even if i moved around outside the trailer he was quiet! we spent an hour with the trailer and it didn’t even feel like it! awesome.
today i took big B and little L with me to the barn. when we got there we were informed that billy was loudly snoring in his stall, laying flat out
how funny! i walked down to his stall and he just laid there. i went in and brushed him all over his one side while he laid flat. then the boys came up to see him and he sat up a bit. Logan climbed the fence and took these pictures…
happy new year!
i’m so thankful for the year 2011. it was full of beautiful things.
wonderful life changes.
and we bought LAND!!!
i can’t wait to see what the year 2012 has in store for me and my family.
here is the past year….
in photos!
photos by little L
i think i’m raising a budding photographer!
we went shooting yesterday. little L doesn’t like to shoot guns.
he says they’re too loud.
so while we were shooting guns i handed little L the camera so he could so some shooting too
and here are some i took…
you’re a redneck if….
you know you’re a redneck when you and your kids
know all the words to “devil went down to georgia” by the charlie daniels mathews band….
and sing them loudly while driving in the car.
portrait time!
so. it’s october. which means it’s time to think about christmas. and christmas presents.
which leads me to portrait time! i drug the boys out and we had ourselves a time
i also talked my little brother and his girlfriend into doing a little shoot too. so. much. fun.
my little bro and his girlfriend:
this next one is my favorite!
and onto the boys!
they weren’t exactly thrilled to be doing this…
the next one is so fun!
now to figure out what to do with these…..
happy father’s day!
we had a great father’s day. i had to work from 8am to 1pm… while i worked the boys took handsome hubby down to the park so they could participate in the father’s day fishing derby. they stock the pond with fish just for this derby! there are some big fish in that pond.
my boys didn’t catch any fish. not one.
but they had fun anyway! big B decided he wants to be a fisherman.
when i got off work we went up into the mountains to go shooting. it’s a beautiful day. not much wind, a little rain, but not cold. while the boys were shooting i took angus for a hike. and found these….
and i found this little guy in the sagebrush
and here’s my boys!
big B was a shootin’ fool! he was shooting the rifle and the semi automatic rifle. he didn’t want to stop even after the rain started coming down. he was out there with water dripping off his hood…
and has now decided he wants to be a gun man.
not a hunter because i told him if he kills it, he has to eat it.
he said, “what if i kill a tree?”
i said, “you’ll have to eat it.”
and here comes the rain!
worms!
worms! i saw worms!!
it’s official. it’s spring.
i wanted to share the cards my boys made me for mother’s day.
they are beautiful.
and heartfelt. little L’s made me cry and big B’s made me laugh!
first… big B’s.
i love the colors!
and a close up of the poem.
hilarious.
and a close up of little L’s…
it says,
Dear mom, I hope you have a great
Mothers Day, I will Love you for ever and ever. I Love you
with all my sole and heart. I will never not love you mom
because you my one and oliy mom.
yep. my mother’s day was awesome.
and there are worms.
happy easter!
we had a wonderful day filled with family and good food.
and candy.
can’t forget the candy.
lots of it.
and easter egg hunting…
use your eyes and look for the egg little D. which hand is your right hand?
oh where oh where is that egg?
well at least she was listening to us!
and though it seems she is looking right at the egg…
she needed a little more help to find it. but we got a great laugh!
little L had a great time hunting for easter eggs…
big B found the most eggs and won the prize!
(she wasn’t crying… just being dramatic.)
but really when you are so hopped up on candy, who can stay sad!?
i took lots of pictures.
these were some of my favorite.
i’ll share some great ones of little D and big K later this week!
happy happy easter to you
